Virat Kohli 100th Test: Dinesh Karthik says RCB teammate has left ‘lasting legacy as Test skipper’ | Cricket News

India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has said that Virat Kohli has left his eternal assets as a Test skipper for the World Cricket Championships. Earlier this year, Kohli resigned as the test hero and Rohit Sharma took over. The upcoming Mohali test against Sri Lanka will be the 100th Kohli in the longest format while Rohit will lead the team for the first time in the Tests.

“I do not think Virat Kohli has just left a legacy for Indian cricket, he has left a legacy for global cricket. The intensity with which India has played Test Cricket for the past few years has been amazing. The world is amazed at how much energy Virat can handle. People all over the world enjoy that. I think Kohli brought fitness to the table and he has made that order, people have followed that and you can see that the field standard has gone up two levels, ”Karthik said on‘ ICC Review ’.

Asked about the importance of Kohli’s tenure, Karthik said: “I think for me, it will be Australia’s trip to India when India loses its first Test in Pune on a position change. A lot of the eyes were raised on how India could lose on the turning point but after that, they played in Bengaluru, some things went uphill after that. The backs were against the wall after the first Test.

Former RCB captain Kohli is scheduled to make his 100th Test during the South Africa series earlier this year, but as fate befalls him, he will reach a milestone in India himself with 50 per cent attendance at the PCA Stadium, Mohali . He won for many Test appearances as the Chief Examiner of India (68) and also won for many Test exams by one Indian leader (40).

Only Graeme Smith, Ricky Ponting, and Steve Waugh have won more matches than Kohli as a leader in Test Cricket. Kohli first led the team in the Test Cricket in 2014 against Australia. His last game as a leader was the Cape Town Test in South Africa, which India lost by seven wickets.

Filling the shoes of MS Dhoni will not be easy, but Kohli takes the lead by storm, and quickly, he established himself as one of the best ideas the country has ever seen in Test Cricket.
