With humanity in its second year of pandemic and Covid-19 still around the world, watching the traditional “World War 3” online amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis is not something anyone has been hoping for while browsing through the characters open their social media but here it is. Although the world first saw the Russia-Ukraine conflict through lenses of memes and firearms, things increased rapidly as Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered military action in eastern Ukraine on Thursday. Shortly after Putin spoke, a Reuters witness heard the sound. of what looks like an explosion at a distance from the capital, Kyiv.
The bomber struck shortly after noon in the eastern city of Donetsk, killing at least two people and wounding dozens more.
In a statement quoted by Russian media, Putin said that he had ordered a major military operation in the breakaway regions of eastern Ukraine and that clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces were a matter of time.
As photos and videos from Kyiv surfaced on the microblogging site Twitter, netizens expressed concerns about what they would witness next.
