Sanjay Raut’s Wife In Probation Office For Inquiry -by Ecork

The ED alleged that the Raut family received “proceeds of crime” of over Rs 1 crore.

Arrested Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha Raut reached the Enforcement Directorate office this morning after she filed a money laundering case. He was followed by his daughter and Sena chief Sanil Raut’s brother.

Ms Raut was summoned by the investigating agency on allegations of money laundering in an alleged housing project scam hours after Sanjay Raut’s ED custody was extended till August 8 by a special court. just in Mumbai two days ago.

The central investigation agency has repeatedly mentioned Varsha Raut’s name but has yet to question her.

Four months ago, the ED – which was accused of a Rs 1,000-crore scam in the Patra Chawl redevelopment in Mumbai’s Goregaon – had attached Rs 11 crore of the properties of Varsha Raut and two of Sanjay Raut’s partners.

These include a flat in Dadar held by Varsha Raut, in addition to eight plots in Alibaug held jointly with Swapna Patkar. Sujit Patkar’s wife, “close associate” of Sanjay Raut, Swapna Patkar is now a witness in the case. She allegedly received “rape and death threats” last month but Sanjay Raut has denied any link with her.

The ED alleged that the Raut family received “proceeds of crime” of over Rs 1 crore for facilitating irregularities in the Patra Chawl project.

Denying the charges, Sanjay Raut also told the court that he was kept “without air”, but the ED said he was kept in an “air-conditioned” room, so there was no window.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Mr. Raut shortly after midnight on Monday in a case related to alleged financial irregularities in the redemption of a chawl, or antique, in rural Goregaon.
