Ahmedabad: Left-arm spinner Shams Mulani singlehandedly moved Mumbai to the top of the table points as the 44-time champion th Goa 119 runs after having won a 164-run first-innings lead in their Group D match.

Mulani had 11 match points for 167 (6/107 and 5/60) with a major half-century and a 116-wicket stand with a turnover Tanush Kotian (98 and 4 wickets) taking Mumbai to 395 for nine and then leaving Goa with a tricky 232-run Chase on the final day.

However, Goa managed only 112 runs in 48 overs, giving full six points to the weight points.

Mumbai is at the top of Group D with nine points from two games while Saurashtra, by a winning innings, is seven to Odisha and is second with eight points.

While Saurashtra beat Goa in the final game and will be gunning for at least seven places like Mumbai, if they get six to Odisha, both will be on 15 points.

Mulani and Kotian block eight wickets between them on a spot where there are no demons. There was an expected change on the fourth day but there was no irregular bounce that caused serious trouble.

It was the famous Mumbai powerhouse who fought with their backs to the wall that saw them first hit with a good second innings score and then out in all the shooting fields as Prithvi Shaw gave Mulani a new ball.
