Guwahati: Delhi will be supported by the return of Indian pacers Ishant Sharma and Navdeep Saini when they head for a direct victory against Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy Group H game here on Thursday.
Delhi need direct victory to stay in the competition after receiving their first innings to Tamil Nadu in their opening match which draws here.
Ishant, who has not been featured for the Sri Lanka series starting on Thursday, would like to explain aa.
Pacer lanky, who has made 105 Trials, joined the Delhi team last week and missed the opening game due to qualifying questions. He has already written no plans to play at the League level.
“Both Ishant and Saini are set to play tomorrow,” a team source told PTI.
The Sain joined the team late and missed the opening game.
In the batting department, all eyes will be on India U-19 captain Yash Dhull who made a dream first class debut by scoring back-to-back hundreds against Tamil Nadu, becoming only the third batter to do so in the tournament’s story.
After not playing Red Cricket for a long time, Dhull showed incredible ingenuity and behavior after being asked to open in his first game.
Delhi coach Raj Kumar Sharma has already felt that Dhull is ready to play for India and that another strong performance will make it difficult for the alternatives to ignore him for a long time.
Jharkhand will be under pressure after losing their opening game to Chhattisgarh. The Saurabh Tiwary control team will aim for the best batting performance after controlling 169 and 133 in two innings to Chhattisgarh.
