Cyclone Asani has changed direction and will touch Kakinada coast in Andhra Pradesh

As Cyclone Asani approaches Andhra coast, rain swept parts of Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh this morning.

On Tuesday, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena said Cyclone Asani was likely to reach Kakinada on the Andhra coast on Wednesday morning.

“Cyclone Asani is moving from western central Bay of Bengal towards the coast of northern Andhra state and according to estimates, the cyclone is likely to reach Kakinada, Andhra coast tomorrow morning,” Gina told ANI.

Another senior official of the Indian Meteorological Department, or IMD, told ANI that a heavy to very heavy rain warning had been issued along with coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh in the wake of Cyclone Asani.

Telangana’s Nalgonda, Suryapat, Padradri, Kothagodum, Khammam and Mulugo districts are likely to receive light to moderate rain.

IMD officials said Typhoon Asani has changed direction and will touch the nearby Kakinada coast. After touching the Kakinada coast, you will once again return to the sea between Kakinada and Visakhapatnam.

“Heavy to very heavy rain warnings have been issued along with coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh. Nalgonda, Suryapat, Badradri, Kothagodum, Khammam and Mulugo districts are likely to see light to moderate rain,” Mr. Nagaratna, Head of Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad , may tell ANI.

Met office officials had earlier said that light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are likely to occur in a few places in Telangana due to Cyclone Asani.

“Heavy to very heavy rain warnings have been issued along with coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh. Telangana is likely to have the effect of cyclonic cyclone in neighboring areas. Nalgonda, Suryapat, Padradri, Kothagodum, Khammam and Mulugo are likely to receive light to moderate rains in some areas,” Nagaratna said. Sometimes heavy rain is expected.

Officials said the southern regions of Telangana are likely to receive light to moderate rains. They said Hyderabad is likely to see light rain in the next 24 hours and the cloudy conditions will continue for the next 48 hours.
