President’s Home District Residents Enjoy Lunch With ‘House Girl’ At Rashtrapati Bhavan -by Ecork

They also gave the guests a car of lepers when they left the office of the President.

It was a dream come true for five dozen people of Odisha’s dominated Mayurbhanj district as they got a chance to have lunch with newly elected President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

All sixty (60) people from Ms Murmu’s community, who were invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the first tribal president of the country, were shocked when the authorities urged them to join the lunch of their ‘housewife’ do.

“We were very happy to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the President in the Central Hall of Parliament, but we never thought we would be invited to have lunch at Rashtrapati Bhavan,” said Sujata Murmu, former Zilla Parishad chairperson of Mayurbhanj district. .

She and some other female guests had attended the swearing-in ceremony donning traditional Santhal sari.

Gayamani Beshra and Dangi Murmu experienced the same. Both of them came close to the President for the perfect time and were invited to the swearing-in ceremony. They, too, did not expect that the President would again ask them to lunch.

Ms Murmu’s local residents were given a tour of the Rashtrapati Bhavan and shown the President’s office.

The guests were also given a packet of sweets when they left the official residence of the President, said Sujata Murmu, adding that it was a memorable experience.

Asked about the lunch menu, the participants said it was only vegetarian because the President does not eat non-vegetarian food, not even garlic and onion.

Menu options include sweetcorn vegetable soup, palak paneer, dal arhar tadka, gobi gajar ewa, malai kofta, jeera pulao, naanfresh green salad, boundi raita, kesar rasmalaiand fresh fruits.

Some participants, however, lamented that they could not take selfies with the President as mobile phones and cameras were not allowed inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
