Premier League: Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United held goalless by Watford | Football News

Watford won their first-ever Premier League title at Old Trafford with a goalless draw on Saturday that sparked Manchester United’s hopes of a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Man Utd have 57% possession and 22 rebounds but have found no way past a Watford side who have kept three clean sheets in six games under Roy Hodgson.

Cristiano Ronaldo hit a post five minutes before Bruno Fernandes had two chances to score, denied by Ben Foster’s great save before Ronaldo’s cross.

In the second half, Anthony Elanga shot wide in the second half with a brilliant Paul Pogba flicker, while Ronaldo blocked a shot from behind.

Ralf Rangnick took Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford off the bench but they could not break the Watford barrier. Ismaila Sarr was ousted as soon as Watford almost won a championship.

The score reduced Man Utd’s tally to eight and put them in fourth place on 47 points, two ahead of Arsenal with three.

Watford are 19th with 19 points, three from safety but have played more games than Burnley and Everton directly above them.
