“A resolution has been passed in Parliament on PoK. Kashmir has been acquired by Pakistan, Kashmir is part of India, and will remain part of India. How can it be that Father Amarnath in the form of Shiva is with us and Mother Sharda Shakti is on the other side of the LoC,” the Defense Minister added while referring to the Sharda Peeth, which houses the ruins of a temple to the Hindu goddess Saraswati, also known as Sharda.

He spoke at the ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ commemoration ceremony in Jammu.

Mr Singh said that India today is one of the most powerful countries in the world compared to 1962 when China occupied our territory in Ladakh when former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was at the helm of the matter.

“In 1962 China took over our territory in Ladakh, with Pandit Nehru as our Prime Minister. I will not ask your opinions. Opinions may be good but the same does not apply to policies. However, India today is one of the countries- the strongest language in the world,” said Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

“Those who laid down their lives in the service of the country will be remembered. Our army has always made the supreme sacrifice for the country. Many of our brave soldiers have laid down their lives. In the 1999 war, I surrendered to them,” Mr. Singh added.
