Operation Ganga: SpiceJet to operate 4 more flights to Slovakia, Romania | Mobility News

In an effort to bring back Indian students already identified in Ukraine, SpiceJet will operate special release flights from Kosice in Slovakia on March 3 and 4 and from Bucharest in Romania on March 4 and 6.

The airline will use the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft for these special aircraft. SpiceJet will operate cruise ships to Kosice on March 2 and 3 from Delhi and to Bucharest from Delhi and Amritsar on March 4 and 5.

The airline has already operated two departures under ‘Operation Ganga’. The SpiceJet flight from Budapest with Indian students will arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi at 6.30 pm today.

This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday sent four European ministers to neighboring Ukraine to deal with the influx of Indians who are being held hostage amid ongoing Russian military operations in Ukraine.

Other ministers selected to manage the exemptions include Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia in Romania and Molodova, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri in Hungary and Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport Gen (Retd) VK Singh in Poland.

This is the second release aircraft that SpiceJet is operating under “Operation Ganga” after a special flight that departed last night for Budapest, Hungary from New Delhi. The airline is in talks with executives to launch more release aircraft in the coming days.

The European Union (EU) has launched Operation Ganga to repatriate detained students and Indians from conflict-torn Ukraine. Special aircraft operated by Air India and other aircraft as part of Operation Ganga.

Earlier on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said India had no more than 8,000 nationals since the first proposals were issued by the country.
