Man arrested for violence in Madhya Pradesh Ram Navmi in Khargaon -by Ecork

Al-Kharj violence: So far, 188 people have been arrested in connection with the violence.

Khargon, Madhya Pradesh:

Police on Wednesday arrested a man who allegedly waved a sword during violence in Ram Navami in Khargoon town of Madhya Pradesh last month and was chased by Police Chief Siddharth Chaudhary, a senior official said.

The official said the man, identified only as Irfan, was chased by Choudary when he waved a sword to threaten people, but managed to escape from the scene.

He said his partner Mohsen shot Chaudhry as he was chasing Irfan, injuring the policeman.

While Mohsen was arrested earlier, Irfan was arrested a month after the incident.

Al-Shahdari told reporters that Irfan was imprisoned after his arrest.

A curfew was imposed in Khargon after violence erupted during Ram Navami celebrations on 10 April. Stone-throwing during the Ram Navami procession led to clashes and arson in the city.

The curfew was lifted on May 4.

The official said that so far 188 people have been arrested in 75 cases related to the violent incidents.
