IPL 2022 is set to take place in a new format.
There are ten teams this year.
The 10 teams will play a total of 14 leagues (seven home as well as away), followed by four tournaments.
Each team will play five teams twice while facing the remaining four teams at once (only two houses as well as away).

Mumbai residents match
To decide what teams to deal with, the teams are divided into two groups based on the number of times they win the IPL Champions League next with the number of times the teams reach the end of the competition.
Mumbai residents are in group A.
MI will play twice against KKR, RR, DC, LSG, CSK.
Once against SRH, RCB, PBKS, GT.
That means Mumbai residents will meet their biggest rivals CSK twice in the group stages.
CSK and MI have met each other 32 times in the IPL in which MI has won 19 times while CSK has finished as the winner in 13 seasons.
Stastically, these two are the best teams of the IPL. MI has won the title 5 times while CSK has won four times in the league.
So clearly, both teams know a thing or two about winning titles.
Thanks to their title winners, they have compiled in such a way that they will meet twice in the coming season.
Some will wonder how CSK will handle MI twice even when they are not on the same team. CSK and MI, however, are on the same path and will therefore play twice against each other, as the rules suggest.
