Here’s how to do ITR verification for AY 2020-21: Check step-by-step guide | Personal Finance News

New Delhi: The deadline to confirm the return of income tax return (ITR) for the previous fiscal year, ie, AY 2020-21, is approaching, and those who have not already done so should do so as soon as possible possible. The deadline to approve your income tax return for fiscal year 2020-21 is Monday, February 28, 2022.

ITRs can be certified until February 28, 2022, regardless of whether they cause delay due to lack of ITR-V submission or e-certification. The tax authority will complete the returns by June 30, 2022, once the ITR has confirmed.

According to the new tax rules, ITR must be certified within 120 days of registration. If it is not confirmed, the return is referred to as ‘Irregular Return,’ and the tax company will not collect it until it is certified. In such cases, it is assumed that the individual did not file a tax return for the appropriate age.

An ITR can be confirmed in six different ways. Everyone can make sure in the following ways:

1- Using OTP Directory

Your phone number must be linked to Aadhaar and registered as such in the UIDAI database in order to use this method.

The PAN must be connected to Aadhaar properly.

Select ‘I would like to confirm using OTP on a mobile phone registered with Aadhaar’ and click ‘Continue’ on the e-Verify IT website.

A pop-up window will appear on your screen, prompting you to check the box marked “I agree to confirm my Aadhaar details.”

Select ‘Launch Aadhaar OTP’.

The registered phone number will receive SMS with 6-digit OTP.

Type the received OTP into the required box and press the release button.

Your ITR will confirm if you submit successfully.

2- Using the Banking Network to access the e-filing document

Select ‘Via Net Banking’ and click ‘Continue’ on the ‘e-Verify’ page.

Select the bank you want to approve your ITR and click ‘Continue.’

DISCLAIMER will appear on your screen in the form of a pop-up. Read and then click the ‘Continue’ button.

Log in to your bank’s Net Net bank.

Select the e-Verify option, which you normally find under the ‘Tax’ page.

You will be taken to the page for email submission. Navigate to the ITR form where you should select e-Verify.

3- Using a bank account number to generate an EVC

To publish EVC using this option, you must have a pre-approved bank account.

Select ‘Via Bank Account’ and click ‘Continue’ on the e-Verify screen.

The EVC will be initiated and sent to the email and mobile number associated with your previous document and active EVC certificate.

Enter the received EVC on your mobile phone and email address associated with your bank account, then click e-Verify.

4- Creating an EVC with a demat account number

Select ‘Via Demat Account’ and click ‘Continue’ on the ‘e-Verify’ page.

The EVC will be initiated and sent to the mobile phone number and email address associated with the pre-license and demat account operated by EVC.

Click e-Verify after entering the EVC you received on your mobile phone and email address associated with your Demat Account.

5- Using a bank ATM-based EVC

This service is only provided from a few banks, including Axis Bank, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and State Bank of India.

Buy your ATM card at your ATM.

Enter your ATM PIN and enter the EVC Light for Revenue Collection.

An EVC will be delivered to the mobile number and email address you provided when you registered with the email submission system.

Navigate to the e-verify returns tab.

To verify ITR, select the ‘I already have Electronic Authentication Code’ (EVC) option.

Enter the EVC code and click the e-Verify button.

6-Sending a signed physical copy to the CPC in Bengaluru

Individuals who choose this option should keep the following in mind:

a) ITR-V is a page form that must be registered in blue ink. You must send either by regular mail or by express mail. ITR-V cannot be delivered.

b) CPC Bangalore speed postal address: ‘CPC, Post Box No – 1, Electronic City Post Office, Bangalore – 560100, Karnataka, India’.

c) You do not need to submit any supporting documents with your ITR-V.

d) Once the tax company receives your ITR, you will receive notification via SMS on your registered mobile phone and email address.
