Helicopter crashes at airport in Chhattisgarh Raipur, two pilots killed -by Ecork

The two pilots who were on board the plane died in the accident.

Two pilots were killed after a helicopter crashed at an airport in Chhattisgarh Raipur Thursday evening. Police said Captain Gopal Krishna Banda and Captain AB Shrivastava were killed in the accident.

The helicopter caught fire as the pilots were trying to land the helicopter. The two pilots who were on board the plane died in the accident. There were no passengers on board.

The accident occurred during a flight training at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur under the bounds of Mana Police Station at around 9:10 pm, said Chief Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prashant Agrawal.

A detailed technical investigation will be conducted on behalf of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Government of Chhattisgarh to ascertain the exact cause.

The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh expressed his grief over the tragedy and extended his appreciation to the pilots. “Just received the sad news of a state helicopter crash at Raipur Airport. In this tragic accident, our pilots Captain Panda and Captain Srivastava have passed away. May God give strength to his family members and grant the soul of the late at this time of grief,” Mr. Bagel said in a tweet,
