In the midst of Russian activity, a couple in Ukraine are determined to put their marriage in jeopardy before things get out of hand. Although this was not their intended marriage, the couple wept and smiled at each other’s vows. Yaryna Arieva, 21, and Sviatoslav Fursin, 24, have set their wedding date later in May. While talking about their planned wedding, Arieva explained how they should stay on the “beautiful ground” of a restaurant overlooking the Dnieper River. “It’s just there and the river and the beautiful lights,” Arieva, Kyiv’s deputy mayor, told CNN.
On the day Russia invaded Ukraine’s borders, the couple decided to get married at St Michael’s Monastery of Kyiv. “It simply came to our notice then. We will fight for our home. A le ku. And, we just want to be together before that, ”Arieva said. Arivea’s husband, a software engineer, will go to the local Territorial Security Center to help protect the country.
“Maybe they’ll just give us armor, and we’ll go fight. Maybe we will help with something else. They will decide, ”Arieva added.
