NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the focus of the 2022-23 European Budget is on modernizing the agricultural sector.
Discussing the ways in which the Finance will contribute to the agricultural sector, Modi said seven years ago, the government had made several initiatives for every agri value chain from seed to market and also improved the old system.
Speaking on the post-budget webinar on smart agriculture, he said the agricultural budget has increased significantly in just six years and farm loans for farmers have also increased 2.5 times in seven years.
The Prime Minister said that in the recent budget, seven major measures have been proposed to make agriculture more modern and smart. These include natural agriculture on a mission near the Ganges with 5 km wide roads on both sides of the river, making available modern technology, and providing facilities such as regular banking at more than 1.5 lakh post offices. .
Modi called for startups to come forward for creating a network of home testing companies in the country.
He emphasizes that the management of agri-residue (parali) is also very important. He said that in addition to this, some new measures have been taken in this budget, which will reduce carbon emissions, and farmers will also receive additional income tax.
