BAN vs AFG: Nasum Ahmed claims career-best figures as Bangladesh win 1st T20 by 61 runs | Cricket News

Dhaka: Left-handed spinner Nasum Ahmed claimed a 4-10 best-as as Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by 61 runs in their first Twenty20 on Thursday.

Pacer Shoriful Islam won 3-29 and left-back Shakib Al Hasan 2-18 to assist Nasum, who reduced Afghanistan to 20-4 in the fifth round.

Afghanistan failed to recover from the first goal and was eventually eliminated for 94 in 17.4 overs in response to 155-8 Bangladesh.

“Nasum is very bowled, he is a very different person,” said Bangladeshi army chief Mahmudullah.

“Nice to see the boys fight. The power is good, too. We think the total is defensive.”

Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi are attempting a comeback for Afghanistan with a staggering 37 until Nabi goes out for 16, giving his Allround Shakib wicket his 400th white ball.

In his subsequent final, Shakib also eliminated Zadran, who scored 27 points.

Debutant Azmatullah Omarzai joins 20 against Bangladesh disciplinary action.

Nabi said, “The boys dressed well and put them to 150.

“We thought we could chase it but it dropped our wickets in the power field that is the game. We will all try in the next game to fight.”

Previously, Liton Das hit 44-60 ball to get Bangladesh started. Afif Hossain scored 25 goals and Munim Shahriar opened the scoring 17 after being eliminated from the first bat.

Opener Naim Sheikh continues his poor form to remain on 2, and Shahriar is eliminated by Rashid Khan to leave Bangladesh 25-2.

Liton crashed while losing Shakib (5) and Mahmudullah (10) cheaply.

Liton and Afif deal with the Afghan insurgency, which has Rashid, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Nabi, and a 46-year-old partnership.

Liton reached his fifth, pushing a Rashid delivery to climb on for one. However, after beating four fours and six fouls, he was finally eliminated by Fazalhaq Farooqi.

Farooqi and Omarzai took two wickets each and prevented Bangladesh from hitting big in fatalities.

The second and final T20 is available on Saturday.
